Treatment of the Anorectal Abscess


Abstract
This is a report on 126 cases of the anorectal abscess, which were treated at the Chung goo Sung shim hospital from January 1990 to December 1993.
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1) The patients of the anorectal abscess were 126 cases(11.6%) of 1082 anal disorder cases,.
2) the main type of the anorectal abscess was the perianal abscess(69.8%) and the most frequent location was the posterior area(34.9%)
3) The chief complaint was anal pain and E. coli was the most frequent micro organisms.
4) The most common combined anal disease were hemorrhoids.
5) Incision and drainage were performed in 81 cases(64.3%), and incision and drainage with fistulotomy were in 48 cases(35.7%).
6) The recurrence rate was 30.2% but only one cases was recur at fistulotomy. In the case of perianal abscess, incision and drainage with fistulotomy can be performed simultaneously by trying to find internal fistulous opening. It is desirable
to
performed the operation at ones.
